1893 - 2013 Eine Schule für Gestaltung

Today, the Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Design is a department of the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe. With its 120 year long tradition of product and interior design education it is also one of the oldest interior architecture institutions that are active in continuous further development. From a privately held education initiative from 1893 via a regionally active professional school for carpenters, the school ultimately evolved into a public higher education facility expanded by the topics architecture and urban planning. Thus, this chronicle becomes an exemplary document of German education history. In a unique manner, it offers a panorama of graduate works of many generations that provides an interesting multifaceted and style historic view of the individual stages of building and interior architecture education.
